Key Responsibilities of a Traffic Marshal

• Directing Site Traffic: Safely and efficiently manage the movement of construction vehicles (including HGVs, vans, and plant machinery), delivery trucks, and site personnel on foot within the Ipswich IP1 site boundary. Use clear, unambiguous hand signals and radio communication to guide drivers.
• Implementing Traffic Management Plans (TMP): Set up, monitor, and enforce the site-specific traffic management plan. This includes positioning cones, signs, and barriers, and ensuring all temporary road layouts are followed to prevent accidents and congestion.
• Pedestrian Safety Management: Control public and worker access across site entrances and hazardous zones. Create safe crossing points and ensure clear segregation between vehicle routes and pedestrian walkways, a skill that is also highly valued in roles like a Warehouse Safety Coordinator.
• Communication & Reporting: Maintain constant communication with site supervisors, crane operators, and other marshals via two-way radio. Report any incidents, near-misses, or breaches of safety procedures immediately to the site manager.
• Site Safety Compliance: Conduct pre-start checks on access routes, ensure all vehicles have correct site permits, and verify that drivers are wearing appropriate PPE. Uphold the highest standards of health and safety in line with company and HSE policies.

What We're Looking For (Requirements)
