Key Responsibilities & Duties
In this role, you will be expected to manage a complex caseload with professionalism and empathy. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments of client needs, risks, and strengths, developing and implementing personalised support plans.
- Providing direct support, counselling, and advocacy for children, adults, and families, often in crisis situations.
- Liaising effectively with multi-agency teams including healthcare professionals, police, schools, and housing officers.
- Managing safeguarding procedures, including initiating and contributing to Child Protection Conferences and Adult Safeguarding enquiries.
- Maintaining accurate, timely, and confidential case records in line with GDPR and organisational policies.
- Participating in regular supervision and continuous professional development (CPD) activities.
Essential Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful in this Social Worker position, you must meet the following criteria:
- 1Professional Qualification: A recognised Social Work degree (BA/MA/MSc in Social Work) and current registration with Social Work England (SWE).
- 2Proven Experience: Substantial post-qualifying experience (PQE) working within a UK statutory social work setting, ideally within a local authority.
- 3Safeguarding Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the Children Act 1989/2004, Care Act 2014, and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
- 4Skills: Exceptional assessment, communication, and report-writing skills. Resilience, emotional intelligence, and the ability to work autonomously under pressure.
