Job Description: Nursery Nurse in Gatwick

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities that support the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework across all seven areas of learning.
  • Provide high-quality care, including supporting children with meals, toileting, and nap times, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are consistently met.
  • Conduct ongoing observations and assessments of children's development, maintaining accurate and detailed records to track progress and share with parents and colleagues.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with children, parents, and carers, providing regular feedback and maintaining open communication channels.
  • Ensure the nursery environment is safe, stimulating, clean, and well-organised, adhering to all safeguarding, health, and safety policies at all times.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team, supporting fellow Nursery Nurses and apprentices, and contributing to a positive staffroom culture.

Essential Requirements & Qualifications

  • A recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification (or equivalent) is essential.
  • Proven experience working as a Nursery Nurse or Early Years Practitioner within a UK nursery setting.
  • In-depth knowledge and practical application of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework.
  • Valid and up-to-date paediatric first aid certificate.
  • A clear, enhanced DBS check on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one immediately.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with children and adults.
  • A genuine passion for early years education and a commitment to inclusive practice.
