Frequently Asked Questions

A Domiciliary Care Worker (also known as a Home Care Worker or Care Assistant) provides essential personal and practical support to people in their own homes, enabling them to live as independently as possible. In the B40 area, your day would involve visiting multiple clients, assisting with personal care (washing, dressing), medication, meal preparation, light housework, and providing vital companionship. It's a mobile role requiring travel between client homes, distinct from static roles like an Order Picker in a warehouse.

Yes, absolutely. While experience is beneficial, a genuine passion for helping others and the right attitude are often more important. Many successful care workers come from varied backgrounds, including retail, hospitality, or from caring for a family member. We provide comprehensive training and induction to equip you with the necessary skills. We assess transferable skills like communication, reliability, and empathy – the same core attributes we value when placing a Warehouse Safety Coordinator or any other professional.

Domiciliary care in B40 operates 365 days a year, offering immense flexibility. Common shifts include early mornings (7am-2pm), late afternoons/evenings (3pm-10pm), and some night visits. Weekend work is available and often pays enhanced rates. You can discuss your availability with your consultant – whether you want full-time hours, part-time around school hours, or ad-hoc weekend work. This level of flexibility is a key advantage over many traditional 9-5 roles or fixed-site jobs like Construction Site Cleaner positions.

You are paid an hourly rate (as advertised) for all time spent providing care to clients. Pay is processed weekly. Travel time between client appointments and mileage is typically paid at an agreed rate, which will be clearly outlined in your assignment details before you start. All pay-related queries are handled directly by our central payroll team, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. For a deeper look at pay structures in flexible work, see our video "How Much I Earn as a Temp Agency Worker vs Direct Hire".

Definitely. Domiciliary care is a fantastic entry point into the vast healthcare sector. With experience, you could progress to a Senior Care Worker, a Field Care Supervisor, or train to become a Medication Assistant. Many care workers also undertake NVQ/QCF qualifications in Health and Social Care, funded or supported by employers. Carer Agency actively promotes internal opportunities and temp-to-perm placements. Your journey could lead to specialised care, management, or even recruitment roles within our own recruitment division.
