Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities as a Support Worker

As a Support Worker placed through Team Carer Agency's supported living services, your daily responsibilities will be as rewarding as they are varied. You will work closely with individuals and their support teams to deliver care plans set in line with NHS-aligned standards of care, ensuring every person in your care feels respected, safe, and genuinely supported.

  • Assist adults with disabilities in completing personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and medication management, in a dignified and respectful manner
  • Support service users to participate in community activities, social events, and vocational programmes to promote inclusion and well-being
  • Prepare and assist with nutritious meals, dietary requirements, and hydration routines in line with individual care plans
  • Provide emotional and psychological support through active listening, companionship, and positive encouragement
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of care provided, noting any changes in the service user's physical or emotional condition
  • Liaise with families, healthcare professionals, and social workers to ensure a holistic, joined-up approach to each person's well-being
  • Promote independence by encouraging individuals to develop life skills — from budgeting to travel training — at their own pace
  • Respond calmly and confidently to safeguarding concerns in accordance with Care Act 2014 guidelines

Essential Skills & Qualifications for This Role

  • A genuine passion for helping adults with disabilities lead fulfilling, independent lives
  • Enhanced DBS check (we can assist with obtaining this if required)
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, person-centred care and supported living principles
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills — both verbal and written
  • Ability to work flexibly across a range of shift patterns, including evenings and weekends
  • Previous experience in care, health, social work, or education is advantageous but not mandatory
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (desirable; training provided where needed)
  • An understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries
